When Nazis Come With Tacos

Reading Time: < 1 minute

We keep hearing the refrain:

ICE agents are fascists. Border Patrol officers are Nazis!

It’s the kind of slogan that gets automatic nods at academic book clubs—until someone checks the employee roster.

Border Patrol has been majority Latino for years (over 50%), and ICE runs about a quarter Hispanic.

Apparently, the Third Reich’s recruitment strategy has really evolved since the 1940s. Who knew that Aryan supremacy would eventually require bilingual skills and a solid understanding of quinceañera etiquette?

Border Patrol has been majority Latino for years (over 50%), and ICE runs about a quarter Hispanic.

Picture the morning briefing: “Achtung! Today we march on… actually, hold on, Miguel’s abuela is making tamales for the office potluck. Can we reschedule the goose-stepping?”

It’s quite the historical pivot—from Nuremberg rallies to carnitas Fridays. When the “fascist” break room runs on tamales and Tapatio, maybe it’s time to retire the goose-step metaphors.

But here’s the bite: if your best political attack depends on pretending Latinos are running Hitler’s playbook, the problem isn’t ICE — it’s your argument.

PS: Reasonable people can debate immigration policy. But comparing every badge to a swastika? It’s just lazy.
