Planned Parenthood: Unveiling Controversial Legacy of Eugenics, Racism, and Disturbing Abortion Practices

Summary

  • Controversial Origins: Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, advocated for eugenics and population control, particularly targeting minority groups, casting a shadow over the organization’s legacy.
  • Racial Disparities: Critics argue that Planned Parenthood continues to disproportionately target minority communities, with the majority of its clinics located near African American and Hispanic neighborhoods.
  • Modern Controversies: Allegations of profiting from the sale of fetal tissue and disturbing abortion practices have surfaced through undercover investigations, raising ethical concerns.
  • Questioning Its Mission: While it presents itself as a champion of women’s health, the organization prioritizes abortion services while carrying out the racially charged vision of its founder.

The United States is a deeply polarized nation with over 350 million people across different ideological, cultural, and political backgrounds. From immigration to transgender issues, vaccine mandates to racial relations, the U.S. has no shortage of divisive issues.

Over the last two years, when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, one issue has been a major flashpoint pitting the left against the right. That issue is none other than abortion, and one of its greatest champions is a well-known organization famously or infamously known —depending on what side of the political divide you are—as Planned Parenthood.

From the organization’s name, a novice would be easily forgiven if they thought it was about helping new couples plan for their future families. However, a deep look at the organization and its founder reveals a dark and sinister truth. Even at its current makeup and the services it provides, Planned Parenthood still holds the ability to send chills down the spine of any decent and morally upright person.

The Dark History of Planned Parenthood and Its Founder

Founded in 1916 by Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood began as a small birth control clinic in Brooklyn, New York. In its early days, the organization’s mission was to provide women with reproductive health services and education. However, a look at Sanger paints an entirely different picture.

Sanger’s support for eugenics, a movement that promoted selective breeding to “improve” human populations, is deeply disturbing and outright racist. Her troubling history casts a shadow over Planned Parenthood, and that shadow still looms large over the organization to date.

Margaret Sanger’s Deep Racist Motives Behind Planned Parenthood

While Sanger’s advocacy for birth control is hidden under the guise of women’s rights, there is a far darker motive driving her push. The Planned Parenthood’s pioneer is famously known for pushing birth control as a method of limiting population growth among minority groups, especially among the Blacks.

A 2015 letter signed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), former Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), and 25 Republican lawmakers at the time accused Sanger and her Planned Parenthood of using contraceptives to control the population of minorities, or people she deemed as “undesirables.” The senators also wrote in the letter that Sanger “advocated for the extermination of African-Americans.” Sen. Cruz insisted that Sanger’s work is rooted in “hatred, racism, and the destruction of unborn life.”

“We must also work to ensure that her inhumane life’s work is in no way promoted,” Cruz said in the 2015 letter.

Planned Parenthood Today: Still Same as Margaret Sanger’s

An unbiased observer may think Cruz’s accusation of racism against Sanger is over the top. However, the senator’s accusation is backed up by the fact that Sanger herself once spoke at Ku Klux Klan rallies to promote her sinister ideas. The KKK, as they are famously known, is a deeply racist group responsible for the lynching of Black people. Further cementing Cruz’s accusation is the fact that Sanger’s writings are largely focused on reducing the birth rates of certain populations, mostly Blacks and minority groups.

While Sanger championed eugenics, Planned Parenthood—in its current setup—favors abortion. According to a Fox News report, the organization performed more than 5.6 million abortions between January 2000 and February 2021. Planned Parenthood, regarded as the nation’s largest abortion provider, aborts an average of 300,000 babies yearly.

Here is where the story gets darker. According to Protecting Black Life, Planned Parenthood clinics are strategically located in or near minority neighborhoods. The anti-abortion group cited 2010 Census results, which showed that Planned Parenthood is targeting minority neighborhoods by placing 79% of its surgical abortion facilities within walking distance of African American or Hispanic/Latino neighborhoods. In 2018 alone, Planned Parenthood’s black patients stood at around 400,000.

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York has moved to disavow itself from Sanger’s eugenic views. However, the group continues to target minority babies for abortion, according to a Town Hall report.

While Planned Parenthood has moved to distance itself from Sanger’s eugenic views, the organization seems to maintain the most racist attributes from its founder’s vision, as it continuously targets minority groups, just as Sanger did. To date, the group remains the single largest abortion provider to black people.

The Darker Side of Planned Parenthood

Just like Dark Brandon and his influence-peddling family, Planned Parenthood found itself embroiled in some shady money-making schemes. For those unfamiliar with the term, “Dark Brandon” is none other than President Joe Biden (also known as China Joe, depending on who you talk to.)

Planned Parenthood was caught in the middle of a money-grabbing scheme in 2015 when  David Daleiden, a pro-life activist and undercover journalist, released video evidence that showed executives haggling over the sale and price of baby body parts from abortions in their facilities.

In the ensuing lawsuit that followed the damning revelation, unsealed documents showed that Planned Parenthood Mar Monte charged StemExpress $55 per aborted baby body parts and another $10 per sample of blood in 2012. According to reports on The Federalist, Planned Parenthood billed StemExpress $24,940 for aborted baby parts in just three months.

Daleiden, who is now the president of Center for Medical Progress (CMP), told lawmakers in March 2024 that videos obtained by his organization showed Planned Parenthood admitting that it had a “financial incentive” to sell the body parts of aborted babies and discussing their brutal abortion practices.

The Brutal Abortion Process Planned Parenthood Employs

Video evidence from Daleiden’s investigation showed an employee of Planned Parenthood discussing the disturbing process of aborting babies. That employee, identified as Tram Nguyen, could be heard saying that sometimes an arm is ripped off the unborn baby during an abortion.

“[O]ther days it’s [the fetus is] like more intact where it’s like maybe only like an arm that’s disarticulated,” she said.

Another video featured Planned Parenthood trainer Dr. Uta Landy reading quotes from individuals trained to perform abortions, according to CMP.

“My coping mechanism is to focus on the baby/fetus. Reverence for something that was once alive and now it’s not,” one person said. Another remarked, “An eyeball just fell down into my lap, and that is gross,” which prompted laughter from the abortionists in the audience.

Conclusion

While Planned Parenthood continues to position itself as a champion of women’s health, the evidence would suggest otherwise. A vast portion of its operation centered around abortion. And much like its founder, Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood is a deeply racist organization that targets minorities.
