This category explores the cultural conflicts shaping daily life, from institutions and norms to identity and belief, without slogans or sanctimony.

Silhouette of Theodore Roosevelt overlooking an American canyon at sunrise with wind turbines and a nuclear plant on the horizon, symbolizing conservation, progress, and patriotic stewardship

Conservation is Conservative. It Always Has Been.

Conservation has always been conservative—anchored in stewardship, prudence, and national strength since Theodore Roosevelt. American Eagle advertisement featuring Sydney Sweeney in denim with the text 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' — used for editorial commentary on cultural and political reactions to the ad.

Sydney Sweeney is a Blonde Republican. Now, the Right Side of the Internet is Trying to Make her the Face of Conservatism.

These sort of pop culture advertisements don’t exist in a vacuum, immune to ongoing political phenomena and discourse. To say otherwise would be ignorant. Ads mean something, and they mean something especially in the context of a given moment. We can agree that jeans are American. Texas highway welcome sign with car, caption asks why families are moving to conservative red states

If Conservatives Are So Bad, Why Are Families Flocking to Red States?

They call us backward, “Bible-thumping,” gun-clinging Neanderthals—too obsessed with tradition, faith, and freedom to be part of the woke utopia they’re building in the blue states. We’re mocked for our “outdated” values, ridiculed for our distrust of big government, and painted as a national embarrassment on late-night television. Yet somehow, oddly enough… they keep moving in. Meanwhile, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and the Carolinas are welcoming a tsunami of new neighbors—many of them former blue-state believers. According to U.S. Census Bureau migration data and U-Haul’s annual Growth Index, here’s what we’ve seen: California lost over 500,000 residents in just two years (2021–2023) New York lost over 400,000 in the same period Illinois has seen net losses for 9 consecutive years Meanwhile: Texas gained over 880,000 new residents between 2020 and 2023 Florida welcomed nearly 700,000 Tennessee and North Carolina have become top destinations for new business relocations You read that right. People are leaving cities with Whole Foods on every corner and electric car charging stations in every parking lot… and moving

Meet Aidan Chao: Reclaiming Politics for the People

In his early high school years, Aidan Chao found himself drawn to local Californian politics following a series of burglaries in his predominantly Asian neighborhood of Arcadia. With the community shaken up and neighbors concerned about rising crime across the region, Chao did what most barely-teenagers wouldn’t think of. He called the mayor, April Verlato. Thinking, like most, that a secretary would pick up or he would get the answering machine, Chao was incredibly surprised when Verlato answered the phone herself.
